Directions:
- The Rock lies about three kms west of Clonmel Town through the picturesque village of Marlfield the village centre of what was the Bagwell Estate.
- Continue through the village if you will, there will always be time to explore the village & environs after your walk at the Rock, Markham’s Rock.
- Continue west through the roundabout with the lovely grounds of the former Marlfield Estate on either side, on the left past the HAha sloping towards the river Suir – celebrated in Spenser’s ‘Faerie’s Queen’ as the ‘gentle Shure’ on the right the rising ground with fertile fields with groves of trees & garden of Walnuts on the crest.
- Onwards to the top of the rise with the boundary wall of the estate woods on your left until you see a lay-by on your left with pull in car parking for several vehicles.
- Enter by the gateway in the fence where you find yourself at the Trailhead by the Fox’s Covert
