The Bealtaine Living Earth Festival is a partnership of groups interested in Celebrating our Living Earth in the Southeast of Ireland and is coordinated by Calmast. Waterford IT through Calmast offers a wide range of science, technology, engineering and maths programmes for schools in the Southeast, attracting over 12,000 visitors to four annual festivals: Maths Week Ireland, Robert Boyle Science Week, The Robert Boyle Summer School, Engineering Week and Bealtaine Living Earth Festival.

Fascination of Plants Day is an International movement celebrating the importance of plants and their roles in our lives. This year JFK Arboretum is helping to celebrate this important day by offering a guided walk which will focus on the many and varied uses of plants in our daily lives, as well as exploring the relationship which exists between plant life and wildlife in the park.

Explore the rocky shoreline and experience the amazing habitat of the Tramore coastline. This rockpool exploration celebrates biodiversity where students enjoy hands on outdoors science, in a fun and interactive way.

What you need to bring: Shoes, boots or wellingtons with strong grips. Alternatively, shoes that you are happy to get wet. You will need a change of shoes. Weatherproof clothes and sunblock.

Try some pond-dipping and use identification skills to discover aquatic bugs. Enjoy a walk through the woods and learn to spot signs of woodland birds and squirrels. Emerge from the woods onto the fascinating sand dunes where participants will search for more bugs!
